Until It's Done

Until It's Done is a Noir novella, set in a dystopian world which will likely seem unpleasantly familiar to many if not most. The protagonist, an enforcer working for the enigmatic crime boss "Mr. Goodnight" - who the protagonist himself has never laid eyes on - works as well for the State Security Service, in a very similar capacity.

Randy's a goon. A basher, a beater, a cracker of skulls, and he's good at what he does. He's been good at what he does for a long time.

Too long.

He's decided that he's getting out, but when the State doesn't want to let go of anyone it can use - and when Mr. Goodnight refuses to let anyone walk until he is done with them - what's a man to do?

In Randy's case, the answer is to get a helping hand, and there aren't many of those left anymore. One, however, remains, whispered about in the shadows, and Randy's been pursuing them, because he wants out.

What he gets isn't quite what he expected.

A roughly 25, 000 word book, this consists of about 20k story and about 5k author commentary and other verbiage (legal, dedications, content warning, etc.). The content is mature, and adult at times, including violence, sex, sexual violence, and threats, some of which are graphic. Fuller content warnings are available at this link with spoilers.

The first two pages are included here as screenshots to be read, to give an idea of the story and its writing. If you like it, maybe give the book a try!

This story will be eventually uploaded to jaredgoring.com to be read, in full, for free, however it will lack the author commentary and the portability of the epub format, as well as its versatility.
